About the show:

North of Portugal. Summer. 1999. The walls are decaying, the air is thick, death lingers and Rafaela is ready to go. 3 women bound to the same house governed by the Matriarch. Will Rafaela remain or will she break free?

Set against the rural structure of Northern Portugal, we are taken into the house of the Silva family. A family drowned by secrets, poverty and Catholicism. Will the generational trauma stick to these walls, or is Rafaela the one to break the curse.

1999 explores a real life family story that is rooted in Portuguese beginnings but its message is felt world wide.
